Kamishikimi Shrine
This mystical shrine has been hot topic on social media as “the entrance to another world”.
97 stone lanterns line up along the approach leading to the main hall, the scenery that sunshine comes into the green mossy world is very fantastic.
When you walk through the main hall, you will find a huge stone called “Ugeto-iwa”.

Kusasenri
Kusasenri is a vast grassy plain which offers great views of the volcanically active Nakadake Peak. Kusasenri also features a large pond and horses can be seen grazing on the land. This scenic location has become a popular feature of the Aso Geopark.
Mt. Aso Nakadake Crater
Mt.Aso's caldera is one of the world's largest calderas, which stretches 18km east-west, 25km north-south. Mt.Nakadake is still active and its crater is 600m in diameter, 130m in depth and 4km in circumference. You can see the huge crater emitting white smoke and the magnificent scenery up close. When the level of volcanic activity is high, you may not be able to approach the crater.

Mai is an instant family member!! We love her and super thankful for her. Went above and beyond with her job. My father in-law 4th generation family are from Kumamoto so our goal in visiting is to find any information or trace of his family. We met with Mai shared our plan & purpose. We did a personalize tour with her, but she did not just helped us with going to places where we can get more information about our family she also did a personal research about immigrants of Japan to USA. She helped us understand Japanese names and went with us find locations that which amazingly we found a Shrine where a funeral was held for the same last name we are searching! Thank you Mai. “Mai is wonderful!”
We have been with other private tour guides before but Mai was easily one of our favorites. She was always quick to reply and I felt assured everything would work out great, and it did!!
