Nagoya Station or Your Hotel
- Nagoya Station "Golden Clock" (Nagoya Station Sakura-dori Side) Or Your Staying Hotel Lobby (Near Nagoya and Gifu only. If not please message us and check.)
Start your day by strolling through the picturesque old streets of Takayama, where traditional Edo-period architecture still stands. The streets are lined with charming vendors, perfect for enjoying local street food as you walk around. (Please note that there will be a lot of walking, so comfortable shoes are recommended.)
For those looking for a more relaxed experience, you can hire a rickshaw to take you around the town. The rickshaw ride, lasting 30 minutes for two people, costs around ¥7,000. Of course, this option is flexible, and you are welcome to explore on foot if preferred. Additionally, you can enhance your experience by renting a kimono for about ¥10,000 per couple, allowing you to blend into the historical setting while you explore.
For lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to savor Takayama’s culinary specialties. You can choose between the region’s famous Takayama ramen or indulge in premium Hida beef, a true local delicacy. Please note that if you decide on the day of the tour, there may be a wait time for popular restaurants, especially during peak hours.
The Shinhotaka Ropeway is Japan’s only double-decker gondola, taking you up to 2,156 meters with breathtaking views of the Northern Alps. As you ascend, you’ll be surrounded by stunning vistas of snow-capped peaks, lush forests, and changing seasonal beauty.
What Makes It Special?
Double-Decker Gondola: Experience Japan's only double-decker cable car, accommodating up to 121 passengers.
Seasonal Scenery: Enjoy vibrant greenery in spring/summer, autumn’s fiery colors, or a winter wonderland.
Outdoor Adventures: At the summit, take in 360° views, explore hiking trails, or relax in the alpine scenery.
Onsen & Local Cuisine: After your trip, unwind in a nearby hot spring or savor local dishes like Hida beef.
Hirayu Onsen is one of the oldest and most beloved hot spring resorts in the Okuhida region, offering a perfect blend of nature, relaxation, and history. Surrounded by majestic mountains and pristine forests, it provides an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
In addition to full onsen baths, Hirayu Onsen also offers relaxing foot baths (ashiyu), where you can soak your feet in the healing hot spring water while taking in the beautiful natural surroundings. These foot baths are free to use and offer a casual and refreshing way to enjoy the benefits of the onsen without having to undress.
For those interested in local souvenirs, Hirayu Onsen has shops where you can purchase a variety of regional specialties and handmade goods. Popular items include Hida miso, locally crafted ceramics, and handmade wooden products. These make great mementos or gifts, reflecting the craftsmanship and natural beauty of the region.
