Tokyo is a big city but there remain many old places and buildings where you can learn Japanese history and tradition. If you are interested in modern aspects of Tokyo, you can visit popular shopping areas and busy streets to see Japanese pop culture. In this tour, you can choose places to visit depending on your interests and arrange your itinerary. Let's have fun!
At your hotel in Tokyo
Meeting in the lobby
This is the typical Japanese-style garden and entering the former Edo castle sight is a wonderful experience. The old structures and stone walls were made about 400 years ago and the contrast of old and modern buildings in the surrounding areas is surprising. You see and enjoy floweres in the season. The East Garden is open on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. On Monday and Friday, you see Niju-bashi double bridge at the site.
We go through Ginza by bus and see how stylish flagship shops are. In Tsukiji Outer Market there are more than 400 food stores. You can enjoy to see or eat fresh seafood or sushi.
You will be accompanied to a good restaurant. You choose dishes, for example, Sushi, Sukiyaki, Ramen, etc.
You stroll around Shinobazu Pond and Benten temple in Ueno Park, where cherry blossoms are famous in spring, and visit golden buildings with traditional Edo-style carvings at Ueno Toshogu Shrine. Ueno is also famous for museums and Ueno Zoo.
Sensoji Temple is the oldest and most famous temple in Tokyo and you can see the tradition of co-existence of temples and shrines because next to the temple is Sengen shrine. The passageway from the Big Lantern Gate, "Kaminarimon" to the main hall is called Nakamise street that has 89 shops. You can find Japanese souvenirs and try some traditional sweets. If you like to wear Kimono, I will help you.
You can choose to go to the world-busiest Shibuya crossing and fashionable Omotesando shopping street in Harajuku instead of Asakusa. Please tell your guide your preferences.
You can end the tour at any place you like.
It is possible to be guided to Skytree tower, where you can enjoy the view from 350m and 450m high observation decks.
