Things To Do

Is swimming your workout of choice? Many pools are part of gyms that only allow members, so finding a publicly accessible pool can be quite a hassle. Unless of course, you’re reading my list below ↓

Tokyo Prince Hotel Sky Pool
A luxury pool with a matching price tag. But hey, you won’t be in Tokyo so often, so why not have a swim under its most representative tower, the Tokyo Tower?
Price: adults 4000 yen (Sat-Sun and holidays 6,500), children 2000 yen (Sat-Sun and holidays 3,300)
For hotel guests it’s much cheaper (2000 yen and 1000 yen respectively)
Opening hours: 10:00-18:00 between June 1st and Sept 7th.
Address: 3-3-1 Shibakoen, Minato, Tokyo, Japan

Prince Hotel Oiso Long Beach

The Prince Hotel also has a property in Oiso in Shonan, to the south of Tokyo. The pool to this hotel is enormous, with lots of water opportunities for children as well. The pool is so close to the sea that it almost seems like your swimming in the ocean.
Price: adults 3700 yen, high school students 2500 yen, elementary school children and seniors 2000 yen, children under three years 1000 yen. After 14:00 admission gets cheaper (2000, 1500, 1000 and 500 yen respectively), hotel guests pay half price.
Opening hours: 09:00-17:00 between July 5th and Sept 15th.
Address: 259-0111 Kanagawa, Nakagun, Oisomachi, Kokufu Hongo 546
Tel no.: +81 (0) 463-61-1111

Toshimaen Pool
This water park features an extensive selection of wild water rides, slides and currents. But, they also have an Olympic-sized pool for the more serious swimmers.
Price: adults 4000 yen, children over 110 cm of height 3000 yen, children under 110 cm of height 2000 yen.
Opening hours: vary, but usually between 10:00 and 17:00. Check website.
Address: 3-25-1 Koyama, Nerima-ku, Tokyo
Tel no.: +81 (0) 3 3990 8800

Kyōdo-no-Mori Sōgō Pool
This pool is much cheaper than the others, so don’t expect to be the only one taking a dip. Nonetheless, this pool is a good alternative to the others, since there are also many other touristic attractions nearby, such as an open-air folk museum (Kyōdo-no-MoriHakubutsukan).
Price: adults 300 yen, high school students 200 yen, younger children 100. Note that admission is for two hours, after which an hourly rate applies, which is half of the admission rate.

My name is Grant I lived more than 10 years in Japan. I graduated University and translation school in Tokyo. I am fluent in Japanese. I have a degree in Asian studies and have expert-level knowledge of Japanese culture and history. I have memorized the JR rail system across all of Japan, I use the same train timetable calculators as the station staff, and I have experience using bullet train passes that are exclusive to foreign visitors. I can optimally navigate the Tokyo underground and maximize value from a Tokyo metro pass and also understand Tokyo above ground which will allow for seamless transitions between different metro stations and landmarks with minimal backtracking. *There will be a price revision at the end of June* My tour fee is Half-Day Tour: 20,000yen for 1-5hours Full-Day Tour: 40,000yen for 5-10hours The time transiting to and from your hotel for pick up or drop off within Tokyo 23wards does not count towards the time. I am also able to guide historical sites and cities such as Kyoto, Kanazawa, Nikko, and Kamakura on request if you pay my rail fare.

I’m so excited to have a chance to show you around my favorite spots in Kanagawa prefecture. I was born in Kanagawa. I spent my whole school life, including university, here in Kanagawa. I worked as a high school English teacher here for 40 years. I love Kanagawa so much. We have many interesting tourist spots, like Hakone, Kamakura, Enoshima and Yokohama. I got my tour guide license in English in 2009. I am still an English teacher. To give an interesting and impressive lesson to young high school students, I’ve learnt and gathered many kinds of information. I also have a license to teach social studies, so I have a wide range of knowledge about Japanese culture and history. I’m sure to provide you an interesting tour.
