Our guide was Reiko, she is excellent I would take a tour again with her. She knows Maebashi very well always adding special information additional stops that only a local would know. In addition, she is very pleasant. Thank you Reiko!!

“Gunma Tour ”

Knowledgeable guide with lots of experience. He made a change for viewing Sakura which was a good decision which increased the cost of our van. Says that transportation company increased the cost due to the change but I can’t recall being notified of this change. Was also charged with 2900yen of tolls which I paid but was never told about this prior. I paid all of this but don’t think I was told ahead of time

Edward san, Thank you very much for your excellent review for me. We visited Tomioka Silk Mill, Takasaki Daimonya, Daruma, Shiraijuku Yaezakura street and I am pleased that you could enjoy there. Also, we tasted the specialty food of Gunma as Mizusawa Udon noodle that was good for you, I think. We could talk and exchange various information about every tour spots. “Gunma - Shorinzan Daruma-ji Temple and Tomioka Silk Mill”

Rieko is a very kind and considerate guide. She prepared a customized tour for us and even picked us up from our remote hotel in Minakami. Our first visit location was Shorinzan Daruma-ji temple. We got to view some sites on the grounds, and Rieko guided us in making our own Daruma dolls to take home. She even helped us pick out temple charms, and we got to see the Daruma doll awakening ceremony on our way out. She made a good recommendation about lunch at a hometown favorite place called Shango. I really enjoyed the taste of pasta! The last place we went was Tomioka Silk Mill which is a UNESCO world heritage site. I have an interest in architecture so it was nice to see early style brick warehouse with integrated wooden frames. The structures themselves are impressive and even more impressive was the machines in which silk is processed. Rieko was a wonderful guide who really takes time to prepare for the tour she provides. If I am ever lucky to return back to Gunma, I hope I can participate on another tour with Rieko.

It was a pleasure to share cultural activities and enjoy Takasaki pasta with you two, as well as to explore the architectural significance of the Tomioka Silk Mill together.
