I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains. Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort. Great views of Mount Fuji and strolling in the nostalgic areas of an old town are available. And also, the snow monkey park is not very far. The Ochudo, also known as Middle Road, was a special trail for ascetic practitioners that circled Mt.Fuji at the level of the fifth station. The trail is adorned by beautiful flora such as Japanese larch, Rhododendron, and Lingonberry and offers a majestic view of Mt.Fuji. The trail continues to Okuniwa, as Inner Garden which used to be a lateral crater. As it is named, pine trees and volcanic rocks create artistic landscapes by all nature.

We are going to hike from 1st station to 5th station on Yoshida trails. Climbing season over 5th of Mt Fuji is from July 1 ~ Sep10. However, you can hike from the first station to fifth station on Yoshida trails in most seasons. You see many plants along trails and see a few lakes if the weather is good. I recommend these people who come to Mt Fuji out of climbing season or who would like to experience not too hard climbing.

“Yamanashi and Mt Fuji day trip”
Chinami was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. I had to send some extra luggage home to Australia and Chinami helped with getting it done, interpreting and assisting a somewhat difficult task for the post office. She made it easy. We found Chinami a wealth of knowledge and shared information about the area throughout the day. Local understanding of history and customs, found her as a guide exactly what you want. There were several times she stopped for photo opportunities we would not have seen if we had driven ourselves. Places with great views and no other tourist. Lunch selection was great as we jam packed the day with stops and activities, and didn't miss any! Overall thoroughly recommend! Thank you Chinami.

“Amazing day and experience!”
Ryo was the best guide. With his knowledge of the place as a local and his always smile he showed us around and adapted on the go to our needs and expectations. He was very patient with our son and made a great tour which could also attract his (short) attention. Important: he speaks perfect English, unlike other guides who apparently don’t make it easy… I definitely recommend him and would do another tour with him at any time if I could.
