DAZAIFU TENMANGU (shrine)

Approximately 30min drive from the central Fukuoka.

Dazaifu Tenman-gū is a Shinto shrine in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is built over the grave of Sugawara no Michizane the god of education. It is one of Japan's most important Shinto shrines, the head of 12,000 Tenjin shrines nationwide.

A giant wooden Buddha ~The biggest wooden Buddha in Japan~

The Tōchō-ji Temple, one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan houses the largest sitting wooden Buddha in the country.

Fukuoka castle ruin

Completed in the early Edo period for tozama daimyō Kuroda Nagamasa, it has been designated a National Historic Site of Japan in 1957. Although the castle is not fully reconstructed like other famous castles, the preserved stonework and quiet paths offer a peaceful setting to reflect on the city's past.

Daimyo shopping streets ~Fashion, Culture & Street food~

Daimyo (Tenjin) is the heart of Fukuoka's shopping area. High brands, local brands, street food, sweets, pop culture are all here.

YATAI experience ~Fukuoka's most famous outdoor food stands~

Fukuoka's open air food stands (屋台, YATAI) are possibly the city's best known symbol. Yatai can generally seat about seven or eight people and provide an atmospheric outdoor environment to enjoy various foods that are generally simple and filling.
