Experience dinner with geisha, called "Ozashiki asobi"! This is a great opportunity not only just to take a photo of geisha performing dance and songs, but also to chat with her and learn about geisha life while enjoying dinner. You'll have an authentic Japanese kaiseki dinner and play some geisha game at a traditional Japanese house, which will be the most amazing experience in your Japan trip.
Check out what we are going to do.
Feel free to personalize this offer.
At a teahouse "ochaya" (you'll be informed after booking confirmation)
The guide will give a detailed explanation of geisha (geiko and maiko), talking about topics such as their clothes and history.
The maiko will serve you drinks; please chat with her as you enjoy your meal (all you can drink including alcohol).
After the maiko has served drinks to all the guests, she will perform two dance routines.
After the dance, you will play a traditional party game with the maiko.
Photo opportunities with the maiko. It’s rare to have a chance to take a photo with a real maiko.
Same place as the meeting point
In this tour you'll learn a lot about geisha, which you can never experience by just seeing her on a street (you're not allowed to talk to her on the street even though you see her). In this activity you'll have a chance to talk to geisha (in Kyoto they're called maiko or geiko), enjoy their dance performance, play game with her. Kaiseki dinner is also a must try thing while you travel in Japan. Every moment will be an unforgettable time.
All you can drink (2 hours)
Geisha are never prostitutes.
They wear very old and highly valuable kimono, and are there to entertain you with their performance and hospitality. Please don’t touch them or be rude to them.
The ozashiki room may contain valuable and expensive objects such as hanging scrolls, antiques, and dining plates. Please handle them with care, and enjoy the artistic works from a reasonable distance.
If you have problems with sitting on the floor - whether you have some kind of leg trouble, or you’re simply not used to it - we can supply legless chairs or horigotatsu
(a traditional-style floor with a hole in which to stretch your legs).
We had a great day with Tokie in Kyoto. We saw a number of the very interesting sights and areas and learnt about the history and culture of Kyoto. Tokie also took some awesome photos for us! Thank you Tokie.
Tokie was prompt, flexible and very knowledgeable helping make the most of a one day trip to Kyoto. Will definitely refer her and look forward to a tour in Osaka sometime.
Because we were unsure of subway Tokie met us and helped us but tickets and at end of tour did the same again, even going with us because we had to change trains. She was very knowledgeable about the area and we met many local people. If we come back to Japan we would live to be guided by Tokie.
Hi Gavin ! Thank you for joining my tour and I'm happy that you liked my tour ! I'm looking forward to seeing you again in the future !
Tokie was superb. She took us around her own neighborhood showing us a shrine and some local shops, including a stamp workshop were we made our own stamps. In the evening she took us barhopping and we tried out local drinks and foods. We definitely got to experience some of the local flavor that we probably wouldn't have found on our own. Tokie is easy to talk to, knowledgeable and an experienced guide. I highly recommend her.
