Shopping

Omotesando as a fashion shoppers paradise

Omotesando is another great shopping destination next to Ginza for hardcore fashion shoppers. But unlike Ginza, which is considered as a large district of malls and branded store flagships in Japan, Omotesando is a smaller counterpart in the form of a straight street path filled with high-class international boutiques and outlets. Omotesando is a street within Jingumae in Shibuya, Tokyo.

A multitude of upscale branded fashion outlets for bags, shoes, clothes, accessories, and eyewear can be found in Omotesando. Such include notable brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Gap, Chanel, Dolce&Gabbana, Prada, and Dior. Electronic gadgets providers such as Apple also got its own branch in Omotesando. Given the variety of brand outlets present, Omotesando is also often referred to as the "Champs-Élysées" of Tokyo.

Within the vicinity is Omotesando Hills, a small complex (can also be considered a high-class mall) also filled with your favorite fashion outlets, restaurants, cafes, and galleries.

Omotesando as an architectural showcase

The omotesando shopping street is at its best during night time where well-thought and creatively crafted lighting from each store gives the street a better atmosphere, not to mention a more fulfilling shopping experience. The place is also considered as an architectural showcase in itself due to the magnificent view produced by several well-architectured exterior and interior designs of stores lined up in the street of Omotesando.

Access and nearby places

The dazzling street path of Omotesando, when walked down, leads to the famed Meiji Jingu shirine, one of Tokyo's tourist destinations. Walking down to the other end of the street leads to the Omotesando Station.

Hello :) I am Macco, a licensed tour guide. I love eating and traveling, so I call myself "EATraveler". I'd like you to experience "tasty (oishi)" Japan, so my tour will be full of nice food. I was born and grew up in Osaka, and now I live in a small fishing town called Manazuru (near Hakone area) after living in Tokyo for more than 10 years. I fell in love with a beautiful scenary of the sea and mounains of Manazuru, and I really enjoy a relaxing life here. So I'd like to show you around this cozy town, which will make you feel nostargic and relaxed. I also work as an editor & writer. My recent works are mainly books about food and drinks, such as fermented food, dried food, cocktails and bars, Japanese sake, coffee, cheese, tea, as well as agriculture and food issues. Based on this background, I'd like to offer you amazing food experiences in Japan and enjoy EATraveling together :) Looking forward to seeing you in Manazuru!

I’m so excited to have a chance to show you around my favorite spots in Kanagawa prefecture. I was born in Kanagawa. I spent my whole school life, including university, here in Kanagawa. I worked as a high school English teacher here for 40 years. I love Kanagawa so much. We have many interesting tourist spots, like Hakone, Kamakura, Enoshima and Yokohama. I got my tour guide license in English in 2009. I am still an English teacher. To give an interesting and impressive lesson to young high school students, I’ve learnt and gathered many kinds of information. I also have a license to teach social studies, so I have a wide range of knowledge about Japanese culture and history. I’m sure to provide you an interesting tour.
