I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains. Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I am excited to show you around beautiful places that I love. I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort. “Private tour around Shunzenji”

Yasuko met us at the train station, gave us a terrific tour of the wasabi farms and then onto Shuzenji. She booked a wonderful local restaurant overlooking the bamboo forest for lunch (traditional buckwheat noodles) and walked us around this charming spa town, where we saw the shrine to the second Shogun and the Shuzenji temple. Yasuko explained a lot about the history of the area and how it fits into Japanese history, the local myths and some of the local foods. She is a very experienced guide with excellent English and so friendly— we had an absolutely delightful time. Thank you Yasuko!
