Embark on the first of eight exciting tours to complete the Pokémon manhole collection! Explore Fukuoka’s northern cityscapes, spotting Aggron in Kokura, Sableye and Duraludon in Yahata, and Gardevoir with Lunatone in Mojiko. After a local lunch, visit Tōchō-ji Temple’s iconic five-story pagoda before returning to Hakata.

Tōchō-ji Temple, Five-story Pagoda
Tōchō-ji is a historic Buddhist temple located in Fukuoka City, Japan. Founded in 806 by the revered monk Kūkai, it is one of the oldest temples in the region. The temple is renowned for its 10.8-meter-tall wooden statue of a seated Buddha, known as the Great Buddha of Fukuoka, which is the largest of its kind in Japan. Tōchō-ji also features a five-story pagoda and beautiful, serene gardens. 2."Why No Pikachu?" Pokémon manhole covers, known as Poké Lids, are designed to showcase Pokémon that reflect the local area’s culture, nature, or history. While Pikachu is the global face of Pokémon, this tour focuses on discovering unique, region-specific Pokémon that represent different parts of Kyushu. Enjoy exploring rare and unexpected Pokémon that you won’t find anywhere else!
3. Image Disclaimer: The artwork in this tour is an original artistic interpretation and not official Pokémon images. To respect copyright regulations, we use custom designs that reflect the theme of the Pokémon Manhole Project while ensuring a unique experience for our guests.
4. For those considering the full 8-day Pokémon Manhole Tour, I recommend adding a rest day in between to avoid travel fatigue. On this free day, I can suggest a self-guided itinerary so you can explore Fukuoka at your own pace!

5. If you want to do cashless payments on your entire itinerary, please let me know in advance. I will need to have a payment machine ready.

7. Extra time is assumed, but it is an itinerary that will be difficult to proceed if the meeting time is delayed. I hope we can meet on time:)
8. My car can accommodate up to 4 guests. If you are a group of 5 or more, please contact me so that I can arrange a rental-car tour.

“Nice day outside of Fukuoka”
We had a nice day with Katsu. He was very detail oriented. We told him we wanted to see the pokemon manhole covers and he took us to all three right at the beginning. Then we enjoyed the shrine and historical sights. He arranged for us a very good lunch where we enjoyed steak and eel. Katsu created a new itinerary for us which exceeded our expectations!
