Discover Osaka Castle on a private two-hour morning walk through its most photogenic outdoor locations. Enter through Otemon Gate, photograph the tower from Nishinomaru Garden, see the giant stones at Sakuramon Gate, visit Hokoku Shrine, and leave via Gokurakubashi Bridge. Finish at a café near Osaka Castle Park Station. The tour does not enter the castle tower. Garden admission and all café purchases are paid separately by each guest.

Meeting Point

Osaka Metro Tanimachi 4-chome Station, Exit 9

- Meet your guide outside Exit 9 and begin walking toward Osaka Castle Park. From near the Osaka Museum of History, get an introduction to the size of the castle grounds and their relationship with the modern city.

Otemon Gate and the Castle’s Defenses

Enter Osaka Castle through the historic Otemon Gate. Learn how the gate, stone walls, moat, and surrounding structures protected the castle, and hear how the site changed between the Toyotomi and Tokugawa periods.

Nishinomaru Garden and Castle Photo View

Enter Nishinomaru Garden, one of the best outdoor locations for photographing Osaka Castle.

Enjoy views of the castle tower across the open lawn, with time to take photos and learn about the garden’s former role within the castle grounds.

Admission to Nishinomaru Garden is paid separately by each guest.

Sakuramon Gate and the Giant Stones

Walk through Sakuramon Gate and examine some of the enormous stones used in the Tokugawa reconstruction of Osaka Castle.

Learn how feudal lords from different regions were ordered to provide and transport these massive stones.

Hokoku Shrine

Visit the shrine dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi and hear how his reputation has changed over the centuries.

In summer, we may also see the shrine’s seasonal wind chime display, depending on availability.

Osaka Castle Tower Exterior

View the castle tower from the outside and take photos from the main square.

Learn the difference between Hideyoshi’s original castle, the Tokugawa reconstruction, and the present tower completed in 1931.

This tour does not enter the castle tower.

Gokurakubashi Bridge and the Inner Moat

Leave the inner castle area via Gokurakubashi Bridge. Enjoy a final view across the inner moat and hear the story behind this historic approach to the castle.

Morning Coffee near Osaka Castle Park Station

Finish at a café near JR Osaka Castle Park Station.

You may order coffee, breakfast, or another drink at your own expense and continue the conversation with your guide. You are welcome to remain at the café after the tour.

The tour ends at approximately 10:30 AM.

Tour Important Information

This is a two-hour outdoor walking tour covering approximately 2.5 to 3 kilometres.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring suitable sun, heat, or rain protection.

The route includes slopes, steps, and some uneven stone surfaces. Please contact me before booking if you require a step-free route.

Nishinomaru Garden normally opens at 9:00 AM and is usually closed on Mondays. If Monday is a public holiday, it may close on the following weekday instead.

If Nishinomaru Garden is closed, temporarily unavailable, or affected by a special event, it will be replaced with another scenic viewpoint within Osaka Castle Park.

Admission to Nishinomaru Garden is not included and is paid separately by each guest.

This tour visits the Osaka Castle tower exterior only. Entry to the tower is not included.

The wind chime display at Hokoku Shrine is seasonal and cannot be guaranteed.

Coffee and food at the final café are optional and paid directly by each guest.

The final café may be replaced with another nearby café if it is closed or full.

The itinerary may be adjusted because of severe weather, park restrictions, temporary closures, or special events.
