First, while it is early enough, we will drive and hike a little bit on the ancient steps to one of the oldest temples in Kyoto and Shiga called Hyakusaiji. After that, we will explore a castle that has a tower that is one of the five originals remaining in Japan, Hikone Castle. We will enjoy Oumi beef for lunch. Oumi beef is if not better, as good as Kobe beef known as one of the three best beefs in Japan. We will enjoy the scenery in Oumihachiman from the mountain top and the old moat.

“Excellent guide who is well versed about Tokyo and its history!”
We highly recommend Grant who showed our family of 5 with 3 younger children aged 11, 8 and 5 around Tokyo in January 2025. He knows the city very well and was able to provide insight about the history and its culture and customs. He was also able to adapt the day to suit the interests of our younger children. We explored the Asakusa area including the Senso-Ji Temple in the morning followed by Ueno and then headed over to Akhibara for some gaming fun in the afternoon.
