Edo Castle, which served as the headquarters of the Tokugawa Shogunate, became the Imperial Palace during the Meiji Restoration. Within the Imperial Palace grounds lies the East Gardens, open to the public. These gardens evoke the era of the shogun with their magnificent castle ruins and the beautiful Ninomaru Garden.
