Japan Tour Reviews

An Amazing Tokyo Experience with Akira – 5 Stars

I had an absolutely fantastic experience touring Tokyo with Akira. From the beginning, it was clear that Akira is not only very knowledgeable about Tokyo, but genuinely understands and appreciates the city, its history, culture and way of life. What made the tour so special was that Akira didn’t simply take me to the typical tourist attractions. He took his time and showed me places I never would have imagined visiting on my own. We explored ordinary neighbourhoods where local people actually live, including Toshima-Zoshigaya, which gave me a completely different perspective of Tokyo and allowed me to experience the city beyond the usual tourist spots. One of the highlights was travelling to Sugamo on one of the two remaining small local train cars. It was such a unique experience and something I would never have discovered without Akira. He also introduced me to authentic Japanese restaurants and cafés, including places that felt genuinely local rather than tourist-oriented. It was a great opportunity to experience Japanese food and everyday culture in a much more authentic way. Akira was also incredibly patient and attentive throughout the day. He never made me feel rushed and was happy to take the time to explain things, answer my questions and share interesting stories about Tokyo. He even took some amazing photos and videos for me, capturing memories that I’ll definitely keep from my trip. What impressed me most was Akira’s passion for his city. You can tell that he genuinely enjoys showing people Tokyo and takes pride in sharing both its famous landmarks and its lesser-known corners. If you want to experience the real Tokyo, not just the places you see in guidebooks, I highly recommend Akira. His knowledge, friendliness, patience and attention to detail made my day incredibly memorable. Thank you, Akira, for showing me a side of Tokyo I would never have discovered by myself. You were an outstanding guide, & I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Dear Daniel Thank you so much for the great review. It was my pleasure to meeting a beautiful human being like you. I am so glad to know that your very first full day in Tokyo was pleasant and enjoyable one, and that I could be a part of it. On the way to meet you in the hotel that morning, I was little worry if I could show you my city in seven hours in such a short notice without hearing what exactly you are expecting from this tour, but upon meeting you in the hotel lobby and exchanged few words and I had a feeling that we would have a good time. It was so much fun to listen to your stories about your country, background, your comfort foods, religion, family and etc that made me talked about mine. I enjoyed answering your questions very much for giving me opportunity to see Japan from different angles. I would like to thank you for not seeing this country something like an amusement park and not treating locals like staffs to serve tourists. Throughout the day, I saw you as a very thoughtful and respectful man with good heart to whom flocks of Tokyo visitors today should look up. Thank you so much again for having me this time, and I am looking forward to another chance to explore my loving city together. Sincerely, Akira

The absolute best guide - Niko is amazing!

My daughter and I had the most wonderful day in Kyoto with Niko. She was knowledgeable, responsible, caring and so much fun. She made our first day in Kyoto perfect. It was a super hot day and having a guide who was able to navigate for us and show us all the interesting sights was perfect. We went to a really fun place for lunch that we loved. In addition to being very knowledgeable about Kyoto history, temples, shrines ans neighborhoods, Niko was personable and it was nice to meet a new person. Niko is so friendly and we are so happy we spent the day with her. She also gave us great suggestions for the rest of our week which was very helpful!

Osaka castle, Dotombori and New World visits

We were a family of three adults, guided by Hideo on July 13, 2026. It took us a while to locate Hideo inside and outside of the Osaka ship terminal. Finally we went back inside and found him sitting near the window. I was shocked to not able to recognize him because Hideo appeared much senior in person, than his posted picture here. Nevertheless, Hideo guided us to the Osaka castle via subway, brought us to lunch at Dotombori, and ended with a tour of Shin-Sekai (New World). We appreciated Hideo in finding the elevators and resting areas for my husband, who had mobility issues with his left foot. I personally found it hard to understand what Hideo was saying during the tour. I think his written English here is better than his spoken one. There was definitely a language barrier here.

Thank you for your honest opinions and for taking the time to write them. I'm going to improve my English-speaking skill from this experience. I think I could use elevators, escalators for your father as much as possible. I hope I guide you the tour again in the future.
