“Tak Knows Hospitality!”
Tak showed remarkable hospitality. From the moment we communicated online to the end of the tour, he always made sure I was comfortable with the tour, the timing and even offered advice about my other activities in Tokyo. Upon meeting, he came bearing a sweet little gift for me! The highlight of the tour was Hagoita-Ichi (Decorative Paddle Fair) at the Senso-ji Temple grounds where we shared some Takoyaki. Or maybe the highlight was the end of the tour downing a well-earned beer after all the walking, talking and subway riding. Tak knows and loves his Asakusa neighbourhood and it shows! I can’t wait to return and tour with Tak again!

“Like Travelling with a Good Friend”
I booked two tours with Chiaki. She was organized, informative, and kind. She met me at my hotel which really helped – I was still struggling to situate myself. I loved that the tours involved lots of walking and taking the subway. It really helped me figure out where things were and gave us a chance to learn more about each other. The standout for me was going into the fabric district to purchase some Japanese designed fabric for one-of-a-kind souvenirs (I’m going to frame them). She helped me find some stunning samples. The quiet moment in the Japanese garden was wonderful. I will definitely book time with Chiaki when I return to Tokyo.

Vielen Dank für die Zeit und die Einblicke in die historischen Stätten in Tokio. Wir besuchten den Ueno-Park, den Shimizu-Kannon-Do, den Ueno-Toshogu-Schrein, das Iwasaki-Herrenhaus, (das Haus der Gründerfamilie von Mitsubishi), Ameyoko und das Yanaka-Ginza-Viertel. Ayana erzählte uns viel über die Geschichte und die wichtigsten Fakten dieser Orte und beantwortete all unsere Fragen. Wir aßen in einem typisch kleinen japanischen Restaurant zu Mittag – auf das wir selber nie gekommen wären. Sie ist sehr flexibel, fragt nach und offeriert Varianten. Sie spricht sehr gut deutsch und wenn wir etwas nicht auf anhieb verstanden, war es meist ein japanischer Begriff, den wir falsch lernten, wie Tempura und Sumo (das Ringen), das wir jetzt richtig aussprechen.
