One of Kamakura's five great Zen temples, established by Hojo Tokimune in 1282. The first head priest was Mugaku Sogen, a monk from the Southern Song dynasty. The temple is serene, with beautiful gardens and many ancient buildings.
Tokei-ji
Also known as the "Divorce Temple," it has been a sanctuary for women seeking refuge since its establishment in 1285. Recognized as a divorce office by the shogunate during the Edo period, wives unhappy in their marriages could take refuge here, and after two years, they would be granted a divorce. The temple has beautiful gardens and a rich historical background.
Meigetsu-in
Known as the "Hydrangea Temple" for its famous June blooms. Visitors flock here during the blooming season. Besides hydrangeas, there are many other flowers, creating a year-round display of beauty. The temple was founded in 1160 and boasts many beautiful landscapes.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine
One of Kamakura's most important shrines, established by Minamoto no Yoritomo, the founder of the Kamakura shogunate. Visitors can explore the main hall, Shirohata Shrine, and the beautiful lotus pond.
Komachi Shopping District
Komachi Street is Kamakura's most famous shopping street, lined with traditional craft shops, trendy boutiques, and food stalls. It's a great place to shop and sample Kamakura's local delicacies.

Beautiful old station building. Head to Kamakura Station to take the Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway) to Hase Station.
Hasedera Temple
Famous for its grand wooden statue of Kannon and its beautiful gardens. The temple's history dates back to 736. Visitors can tour the Kannon Hall, Amida Hall, and gardens, with a view of Kamakura and Sagami Bay from the observation deck.
