One of Kamakura's five great Zen temples, established by Hojo Tokimune in 1282. The first head priest was Mugaku Sogen, a monk from the Southern Song dynasty. The temple is serene, with beautiful gardens and many ancient buildings.

Also known as the "Divorce Temple," it has been a sanctuary for women seeking refuge since its establishment in 1285. Recognized as a divorce office by the shogunate during the Edo period, wives unhappy in their marriages could take refuge here, and after two years, they would be granted a divorce. The temple has beautiful gardens and a rich historical background.

Known as the "Hydrangea Temple" for its famous June blooms. Visitors flock here during the blooming season. Besides hydrangeas, there are many other flowers, creating a year-round display of beauty. The temple was founded in 1160 and boasts many beautiful landscapes.
