My name is Miyu. I have been a Nationally Licensed Guide Interpreter since 2009. I began my career as a tourist guide last year after working as a public servant for nearly four decades. I worked in the Atomic Bomb Survivors Support Division for 12 years until I retired from the local government, and I continue to interact with Hibakusha. Therefore, I have a lot of knowledge about A-bomb survivors, the reconstruction of Hiroshima, and the effects of radiation on the human body, which I can correctly convey to inbound visitors. I have experience in tea ceremonies and calligraphy and am especially good at guiding visitors through tea ceremony experiences. I love to watch baseball games, so I enjoy talking about them with guests from countries where they are popular. “Wonderful and meaningful Hiroshima experience!”
We had an absolutely wonderful tour in Hiroshima with Kate. From picking us up at our hotel until bringing us back, everything was perfectly taken care of. In her calm, warm and personal way, Kate introduced our family to the impactful history of Hiroshima, while also sharing its powerful message of hope and peace.
