It also has a lot of traditional crafts,such as kimono, fans, Japanese artistic sweets. There are a lot of things to do and experience. First of all I will take you to Gion area.I will take you to Yasaka Shrine and Kenninji Temple. Then let's move to the Nishiki market. and have sushi lunch in the market. Gion is the area of entertainment, where there are many bars and taverns. Some important business and political talks have been conducted. You may run across Maiko and Geiko, Japanese entertainers in kimono. If you want to wear Japanese costume in Gion, I can arrange with extra charge. NIshiki market is the kitchen of the Kyoro, where local people buy their everyday food. Fish stores, vegetable stores, pickles stores and so on. A friend of mine owns a Yuba shop in the market. Yuba is vegan, dairy-free ,gluten free,preserve-free, additive-free and protein rich. You can see the yuba making process.

“Wonderful Guide!”
We (our family of four) had a truly lovely day with Yuka. She was very flexible about sights to see and extremely knowledgeable, able to answer all our questions and point out interesting details about the places we saw. She helped with kimono shopping for our older daughter and was happy to go at whatever pace we went. She had reserved a lunch for us at a popular soba spot (which was delicious). The best part may be that her kind and easygoing presence kept our daughters from squabbling! We asked if she was available for another day during our stay, but she was complete booked. This was our first time in Kyoto; we will be back and the next time we will be sure to ask Yuka well in advance to spend several days showing us more of Kyoto. We could not recommend her more highly!

“Wonderful, knowledgable guide”

“Wonderful foodie tour of Nishiki market in Kyoto”
We scheduled a late afternoon tour with Robert at Nishiki Market. Robert was well prepared, very professional, and charming. He has a beautiful understanding of the culture and history of the area, and educated us about traditions and specialities along the way way. Clearly he appreciates the beauty and unique culture of Japan and loves to share it with new visitors. We could have spent many hours in the market- he was able to point out many highlights.
