“Beyond Sightseeing: Experiencing Tokyo with Akira ”
We had the most wonderful experience with Akira, our guide on Monday, 8th of September. From the very beginning, he made us feel comfortable exploring Tokyo by walking and using public transport, something we wouldn’t have managed so smoothly on our first day. What made the day truly special was how much we learned. He patiently explained the rituals at temples and shrines like how to cleanse our hands, how to bow, and the proper way to offer prayers. These are things we would never have understood just by reading signs or guidebooks, and they gave so much more meaning to each place we visited. He also introduced us to the everyday side of Tokyo that we would have completely missed without him. We enjoyed a meal at a tiny local restaurant we never would have found by ourselves, and even stopped at a neighborhood fruit shop where we tried the juiciest Japanese pear. It felt like such a genuine slice of local life. Beyond his knowledge, he was warm, thoughtful, and made sure every moment felt personal and enjoyable. Thanks to him, we didn’t just see a part of Tokyo — we experienced it more deeply. We are so grateful for this unforgettable day and cannot recommend him highly enough!

Dear Christina, Thank you so much for the great review. I enjoyed the day with you very much and I am so happy that you feel the same way. I’m so glad you are eager to learn all the customs and rituals of locals here and pay respect to local. It was really a fun day for me. Especially wandering in the guitar shop and the digging records in the vinyl shop with your wonderful son. Unfortunately some of the records of some artists (which I enjoyed listened to when I was at his age) were not available on that day, but I assume that perhaps he has found them in Ochanomizu area that I recommended. Thank you so much for another moment that makes me feel that I’m so lucky to be a tour guide, and enjoying everyday meeting nice people like you . I hope you enjoy the rest of the days in Japan fully and wishing that this Japan trip will be memorable one to you and your wonderful family. See you next time! Regards, Akira
