Meeting Point
This itinerary is a typical example of the 'Asakusa Tour,' selected from 12 available spots
- Meeting Point: (Asakusa default case) Location: In front of Kaminarimon Gate, where you will see a large red lantern. Detailed information, including photos and a Google Maps link, will be provided after your booking is confirmed. You can choose your preferred start time based on your schedule. Sensoji Nakamise-dori
Stroll through the lively 200-meter shopping street leading from Kaminarimon Gate to the Main Hall of Sensoji Temple. Along the way, you’ll find a vibrant selection of traditional souvenir shops and local street food stalls, offering everything from handcrafted goods and lucky charms to Japanese sweets and snacks. It’s a great place to soak in the historical atmosphere and experience the charm of old Tokyo.
Senso-ji Temple main hall
The Main Hall of Sensoji Temple is the heart of Tokyo’s oldest and most famous Buddhist temple, originally built in 628 AD. It enshrines Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy, making it a popular place for prayers and spiritual reflection. You can take part in traditional customs, such as offering coins, lighting incense, and drawing omikuji (fortune slips) for blessings and guidance.
Asakusa Shrine
Located next to Sensoji Temple, Asakusa Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine known for its connection to the three founders of Sensoji. Unlike the bustling Nakamise-dori, the shrine offers a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere, making it a great place to experience traditional Japanese culture. It is also the site of the famous Sanja Matsuri, one of Tokyo’s largest festivals, held every May.
Kaminari Issa Café
Located near Sensoji Temple, Kaminari Issa is a popular café known for its delicious matcha-based sweets and traditional Japanese desserts. Here, you can enjoy a relaxing 30-minute tea break, savoring rich matcha lattes, fluffy matcha tiramisu, and freshly made wagashi (Japanese sweets). The cozy atmosphere provides a perfect spot to unwind and experience Japan’s tea culture after exploring Asakusa.
Hoppy Street Walk & Return to Meeting Point
To conclude the tour, we will take a stroll along Hoppy Street, a lively alley near Sensoji Temple, famous for its retro izakayas (Japanese pubs) and local drinking culture. The street is named after Hoppy, a popular low-alcohol beverage often mixed with shochu. Here, you’ll see locals enjoying grilled skewers, stewed beef tendon, and cold drinks in the nostalgic atmosphere of old Tokyo.
After experiencing the vibrant charm of Hoppy Street, we will walk back to our original meeting point, completing our journey through Asakusa.

Hello! My name is Ken (Kenichi), and I’m a professional tour guide with experience guiding over 1,500 foreign tourists as of February 2025.
I have worked for both Japanese and international companies in Tokyo for over 30 years, giving me deep insight into the city and its unique charm. I also love traveling and have explored many famous destinations in Japan as well as in 40+ countries worldwide.
I fully understand the challenges that many first-time travelers face when visiting Japan, especially in a busy city like Tokyo.
My goal is to provide you with a fully customized, time-efficient tour that meets your needs and preferences.
Since most travelers have limited time and want to visit as many places as possible, I carefully plan tours that highlight the best spots and the most efficient routes, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
For added comfort and luxury, I offer the option of using a car with an experienced driver (my wife), making your tour even more convenient and stress-free.
I look forward to guiding you and helping make your visit to Japan truly memorable.

“Excellent Short Tour of Akihabara ”
We were strapped for time and Ken was kind enough to give us a condensed tour of Akihabara. Ken embodies the best of Japan as a guide - warm, very smart and knowledgeable but with quiet strength and humility. We absolutely enjoyed learning about the history of this unique part of Tokyo. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ken.

Dear Priya, Thank you so much for your kind review. It was truly my pleasure to guide you and your lovely children through Akihabara. Although our time was limited, I did my best to select spots that matched your children’s interests—and seeing their excitement over anime figures and the unique atmosphere of Akihabara truly made me happy. I’m glad we could explore a bit of the rich history and culture of this area together. I wish you and your family a wonderful continued journey in Japan, and I hope our paths cross again someday. Warm regards, Ken

Dear Chris, Thank you so much for your kind review! It was a great pleasure guiding you on your final day in Japan. Although the weather wasn't ideal and we needed our umbrellas for much of the day, I truly appreciate how warmly you embraced the experience—especially during our visit to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. I'm so glad you were able to enjoy the rich history and atmosphere despite the rain. I'm also happy that we arrived at Narita Airport on time, just as planned. It was an honor to be part of your journey, and I hope the rest of your travels went smoothly. Wishing you all the best and hope to see you again someday in Japan! Warm regards, Ken
