Hello! I’m Koichiro. Please call me “Yamasan”. It derives from my family name and my friends call me so. I worked for a machinery company as a project manager and engineer for mechanical and electrical construction projects both domestic and overseas for over 35 years. I recall my first overseas project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when I was 26, and the second was in Singapore. I visited many countries for surveys, meetings, commissioning, project handing over, and so on. In 2014 at the age of 60, I decided to retire from the company and live the expected further 30 years of life with a new career and experiences. I, then, studied translation and guide interpretation. I passed the national examination for licensed guides (English) in 2015 and registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in February 2016. Until now, I have been guiding many beautiful guests mainly to popular sightseeing spots such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, Omote-Sando, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and Tokyo Skytree, and also cultural experiences of Origami making, Furoshiki wrapping, and Sushi cooking. I am happy that I can freely arrange a customized tour together with you, or can propose my tours to you. I want to show you some parts of daily Tokyo life and introduce you to Bunkyo City which is located in the heart of Tokyo, just north of Chiyoda City where the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station are. The city is Tokyo’s typical residential and academic area where I was born, grew up, and live a happy life now. Now, we can tour around the world but have not yet overcome COVID-19 completely. Recently, the number of passengers wearing masks on public transportation in Tokyo reduced to some 25% but we should mind about it still. Please carry your mask to wear it where or when necessary (December 2024, Yamasan).

I had worked for the Japan's biggest travel agency JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) for 35 years as a tour escort for Japanese. I visited 68 countries and of course all over Japan as well. So I’m familiar with almost all of the tourist attractions in Japan. More over I’m also a professional magician now. I’m a member magician of The Magic Castle in Hollywood in US. That's why I made a decision to become an English tour guide. I acquired a tour guide license issued by the Japanese government with a lot of hard work in 2016 and I started from the following year. I work as an English guide approximately 130 days a year. My wife is physically disabled, and I usually care for her. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I receive home care and bathing services, so I am unable to go out during the day as I have to prepare for and clean up afterwards. I am available to guide on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I can take up to four people sightseeing in my private car. “Great Day in Shimizu Port/Shizuoka City”
We had a wonderful day with Take san, who provided us an insightful tour of Shimizu. Our day included the Miho no Matsubara Pine Groves and the history behind this UNESCO World Heritage site, a visit to the Nihondaira Yume Terrace, which provided incredible views of Mt. Fuji, as well as the Nihondaira Tea Pavilion. We also had a short stop in a shopping area for us to purchase additional Shimizu teas. Take san was passionate about sharing his knowledge and showing us the sights and sounds of Shizuoka City. We saw Mt. Fuji from different viewpoints, which made the tour all the more magically. Thank you, Take san, for a great day!

“Great Day in Kochi”
We had booked the Kochi Highlights Tour with Hiroshi during our Diamond Princess cruise stop in Kochi. We had a full day starting with Kochi Castle, lunch at Hirome Market, strolling through the Obiyamachi shopping arcade, visiting the Chikurinji Temple and finishing with the Makino Botanical Garden. We had a wonderful day exploring the highlights of Kochi and were well taken care of by a local expert. Hiroshi was knowledgeable, attentive and patient, he introduced us to local dishes and the Konatsu fruit and took care in ensuring that my partner was able to enjoy a vegan meal at Hirome Market. We also made short stops at a local grocery store to pick up Inaka-zushi - countryside sushi - and at a gift shop that sold locally produced products. On top of all this, Hiroshi took amazing photos of us and provided a photographic perspective that on our own we would not be able to capture. We had a great memorable day and look forward to booking another tour with Hiroshi that next time we are in Kochi!

“A good day in Takayama and Hida-furukawa ”
we had an enjoyable and interesting day with Tetsuji Y. as our guide in Takayama and Hida-furukawa. Tetsuji-san put together the itinerary according to our preferences and wishes and was flexible enough and abele to adjust during the day to accommodate our wishes. His english language skills are good and allowed easy conversation and so we had a good time together.
