“A unique place to visit!”
Our day in Kawagoe was great! This was our second tour with Kahoko (day 2 of 2). After touring Tokyo the previous day, Kawagoe was a breath of fresh air as it had less tourists, yet offered a unique and interesting perspective on the history in Kawagoe. We really enjoyed walking through the old warehouse district street lined with fire-resistant storehouses that were built for wealthy merchant families featuring thick walls and safety measures against intruders. These buildings stored the goods manufactured or traded through Kawagoe and now serve as shops and restaurants. Kahoko knew her way around and took us to little shops we would never think to visit. She was flexible for us to stop at anytime so we could buy a few souvenirs to include some tea cups from a pottery store that she recommended. It was a hot summer day, but that did not stop us from exploring and even taking a break to walk on a path of variety of differently shaped pebble stones, an interesting place to walk barefoot to stimulate the acupuncture points on the soles of your feet and hope for health benefits. Even Kahoko joined us to walk the path - we had so much fun and laughed a lot. (Don’t skip this pebble path experience, if you visit Kawagoe!) We ended the day with eating lunch at a Tonkatsu restaurant. It was located in the basement of a business building, which we would not find without Kahoko and let me say that this tiny restaurant is a hidden gem! The owners were welcoming and friendly to us and the food was one of the best meals we tasted in Japan! With Kahoko leading us and offering her recommendations on shops to visit and places to eat, we appreciated her going above and beyond to ensure we were happy and had a great day. Thank you so much, Kahoko! The barefoot walk and eating Tonkatsu was our favorite part of the day with you.

“Tokyo tour à la carte”
We enjoyed the whole tour, and even though it was raining, it was still very enjoyable. We visited Asakusa, including the beautiful Senso-ji Temple, which is a lively and popular area for shopping. We also explored the Tsukiji Outer Market, a must-visit spot where you can taste a wide variety of delicious foods. Finally, we went to Shibuya, which is famous for the iconic scramble crossing, where countless people cross the intersection at the same time. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and a great way to see some of Tokyo’s most famous sights.
