Hello! I’m Koichiro. Please call me “Yamasan”. It derives from my family name and my friends call me so. I worked for a machinery company as a project manager and engineer for mechanical and electrical construction projects both domestic and overseas for over 35 years. I recall my first overseas project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when I was 26, and the second was in Singapore. I visited many countries for surveys, meetings, commissioning, project handing over, and so on. In 2014 at the age of 60, I decided to retire from the company and live the expected further 30 years of life with a new career and experiences. I, then, studied translation and guide interpretation. I passed the national examination for licensed guides (English) in 2015 and registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in February 2016. Until now, I have been guiding many beautiful guests mainly to popular sightseeing spots such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, Omote-Sando, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and Tokyo Skytree, and also cultural experiences of Origami making, Furoshiki wrapping, and Sushi cooking. I am happy that I can freely arrange a customized tour together with you, or can propose my tours to you. I want to show you some parts of daily Tokyo life and introduce you to Bunkyo City which is located in the heart of Tokyo, just north of Chiyoda City where the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station are. The city is Tokyo’s typical residential and academic area where I was born, grew up, and live a happy life now. Now, we can tour around the world but have not yet overcome COVID-19 completely. Recently, the number of passengers wearing masks on public transportation in Tokyo reduced to some 25% but we should mind about it still. Please carry your mask to wear it where or when necessary (December 2024, Yamasan).

I had worked for the Japan's biggest travel agency JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) for 35 years as a tour escort for Japanese. I visited 68 countries and of course all over Japan as well. So I’m familiar with almost all of the tourist attractions in Japan. More over I’m also a professional magician now. I’m a member magician of The Magic Castle in Hollywood in US. That's why I made a decision to become an English tour guide. I acquired a tour guide license issued by the Japanese government with a lot of hard work in 2016 and I started from the following year. I work as an English guide approximately 130 days a year. My wife is physically disabled, and I usually care for her. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I receive home care and bathing services, so I am unable to go out during the day as I have to prepare for and clean up afterwards. I am available to guide on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I can take up to four people sightseeing in my private car. “Go with Jasmine ”
We toured Kyoto for 2 days with Jasmine. I wouldn’t think twice about booking her. She has great English, easy to understand, she’s informative, kind, and patient. She took us to the sites we had planned, and then effortlessly changed up our itinerary based on our preferences. We enjoyed our time with her, and would book with her again in the future.

“We loved Melody! ”
Don’t think twice to book Melody as your tour guide. His English is great, he is so kind, and he does a nice job giving tours. We are a family of 7, and we all enjoyed our time together with him. He taught us about the sites we saw, but also about the Japanese culture, we were never bored. He was patient and helpful while we shopped. I would definitely tour with him next time we come to Japan.

“Amazing tour with Yacco ”
We had the best time with Yacco in Kamakura. She is so thoughtful and caring and put together the best itinerary for our family and arranged all the reservations needed ahead of time. It is obvious she loves having visitors and tailoring a program for their needs and desires. She taught us so much about Kamakura, history in Japan, and also about Japanese culture, religion, and tea ceremonies. This was definitely a highlight of our time in Japan and we HIGHLY recommend Yacco to others wanting to get the most from a trip to Kamakura!
