Tokyo Tour Reviews

One-day walking tour of keys spots of interest for our first trip to Tokyo

Ritsuko picked us up at our hotel to start our full day walking and subway riding tour of Tokyo. It was forecasted to rain heavily the morning of our tour, so we contacted Ritsuko as how that might impact our tour agenda. She responded that it might make sense to delay the start of our tour as the rain was expected to subside as the day went on. So with a little later start, off we went to see the Tsukiji Outer Fish Market. We travelled there via subway and she gave us a crash course on how to use the Tokyo subway system, perhaps the most valuable information to aid our visit to Tokyo. As we made our way around the fish market, she provided us with interesting facts about the market along with Japanese culture. We learned about the various grades of Toro, how the market operates and even visited a nearby shrine, which included one portion dedicated to the sushi traders. We also visited the nearby Tsukiji Hongwan-ji Temple which has a distinctive Indian twist for a Japanese temple. Next we off to the Senso-ji Temple, a more traditional Japanese temple. Ritsuko was a weath of knowledge as she filled us in on all the interesting facts about the temple and how the temples and shrines are a part of the Japanese culture. The other three most noteworthy parts included in our tour were the Meiji Shrine, a Ramen lunch at a typical Tokyo lunch counter and our visit to the Shibuya area. As our day with Ritsuko ended, she took us back to our hotel and then she showed us one of the best kept secrets in Tokyo. Across from our hotel, in the New Ohtani Hotel is a beautiful Japanese garden that was there before the hotel was built. She told us the story of how the developers had to build the new hotel, back in 1963, around the garden and preserve the garden for the future. A fabulous way to end our tour and a site we visited more than once during our first visit to Tokyo. We would highly recommend booking Ritsuko for a tour of Tokyo.

Hi Debbie and John, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and thoughtful review— it means a lot to me. Although the weather wasn’t ideal at the beginning of the day, I’m glad it cleared up later and that we were able to finish the tour on a high note. I’m especially happy I could show you one of my favorite hidden spots, the small but historical Japanese garden at the New Otani. It was MY pleasure spending the day with you, and I’m very glad to hear the tour helped you feel more confident navigating Tokyo. I hope you continue to discover many new things in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima, and enjoy lots of local food along the way. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your trip. All the best!

Personalized Tokyo Journey

I usually don't write reviews but felt i had to express my appreciation for the day we spent with Akira. Akira is the most informative, kind, patient and pleasant individual you could wish to meet. He has a great knowledge of Tokyo and took us to his favourite restaurants for lunch and coffee. He showed us the places that tourists would not usually see and tailored the tour to our requirements. He even stayed with us longer than was necessary so that we could meet our next appointment at the correct place and time. I honestly wouldn't look anywhere else if you are looking for a Tokyo guide. Akira will exceed your expectations in every respect and it was a privilege to spend the day with him.

Hello David, Thank you so much for the great review. I knew you had some unpleasant experience before we met on that day. I was hoping that the tour would be something like a silver lining in dark sky, and I am so pleased to know that you really enjoyed the tour. I enjoyed answering your questions, telling you what it is like to be a local in this city. Also, I enjoyed listening to some stories of your life (including the wonderful guitar lesson that you had given by the maestro finger picker...!). I just want you to know that I enjoyed the day just like you did, and it was my pleasure knowing you. I am looking forward to another chance to explore my loving city together. See you next time! Akira

Hirami did a great job of assisting me to see and do the things I wanted to do. She even did a last minute customization so I could purchase something a friend wanted. It was a delightful day. I am appreciative of the services she provided
