“Superb Guide!”

Akira N. is extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, engaging and kind. Our tour of the more authentic neighborhoods of Tokyo started with the magical Hosokawa Garden. On to Zoshigaya neighborhood where we visited the intact 300 year old temple of Kishimojin complete with Tokyo's oldest candy store. Akira brought the neighborhood to life with his engaging stories and impressive grasp of history. We explored the more traditional neighborhood of Sugamo where we enjoyed a delicious Teishoku (Japanese set meal). Our tour finished in the narrow alleyways of Yanaka where we enjoyed observing the lifestyle of the common people of Tokyo. Akira was always thoughtful and thorough with his explanations of the sites and engaged in his answers to our questions. He was patient, considerate, and informative throughout our seven hours together. Although we requested a tour with a more "local" feel, he was very willing to create a tour of the major sites as well. Dear Paul, Thank you so much for the great review. I am so happy that you enjoyed my favorite part of Tokyo, the beautiful quiet garden in autumn colors, the old temple filled with happy laughter of families (of three generations!) celebrating children's healthy growth or divine blessing, warm exchange with lovely grandma in the store, delicious teishoku in the local diner in the old school Tokyo vibes, and etc, etc, etc... I hope you could get the idea of what it is like to be one of the locals in this city. Through walking in the streets and alleyways of different neighborhoods, and taking trains and street cars, I hope you could feel something that you cannot get from tours hiring car visiting only flamboyant instagramable iconic spots just being busy without being in each of the moments. “Tokyo with Mutoh”

Mutoh was an excellent guide for us and our 3 teenagers. He showed us how to use the subway and train system in Japan. He taught us about some Japanese history without spending too much time to make our kids lose interest. We saw Tokyo tower, meiji shrine, zojoji temple, nakamise street, Takeshita street, and shibuya crossing. We will tour with Mutoh again if we come back to Tokyo.

“Terrific tours with Atsuko!”

My wife and I spent two days with Atsuko touring Tokyo. We were first time visitors and wanted to get an overview of the city and its culture. Atsuko was so patient and kind from our pre-tour correspondence through our post-tour interactions. She could not have been more accommodating and really listened to our interests, changing the tour on the second day to more closely match our interests. Not only did she introduce us to the neighborhoods, but she gave cultural information (for instance, how to respectfully visit a Shinto shrine) and a crash course in the subways and trains of Tokyo. She picked excellent lunch choices based on our input too. Just an overall wonderful experience! We would highly recommend tours with Atsuko.
