“Ana is the best!”

We had a lovely tour with Ana. She is a bubbly and happy person and we had lots of fun, chatting and sharing stories while we toured. In addition to enlightening us about Jewish history and showing us the sights, she gave us the historical context of the region and a short history of Dubrovnik which helped us understand how everything fit together. Ana has extensive knowledge and a strong personal interest in local Jewish history. We are not great walkers, so Ana took the tour at our pace with rest stops en route. Overall we had a lovely time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend and felt this tour was great value.

“Even better on the second day”

Our second morning with Ali confirmed everything we appreciated about the first. Karnak can be overwhelming in its scale and complexity, but Ali made it intelligible—helping us understand how different rulers, periods, religious ideas and political ambitions accumulated in the same place over centuries. Again, what impressed us most was his ability to answer absolutely anything we asked. We could move from a major question about kingship or religion to some tiny detail in a carving or hieroglyph and Ali always seemed to know the answer—or the larger context that made the detail meaningful. He is knowledgeable without being scripted, and the experience feels like an ongoing conversation rather than a standard tour. Having the same Egyptologist for multiple days has been especially valuable because Ali remembers what interested us the day before and builds on it. Warm, patient, flexible and extraordinarily knowledgeable. Another five-star experience.

Five stars without hesitation. What distinguished Ali for us was the depth of his knowledge. We ask a lot of questions—some important, some extremely detailed, and some probably completely trivial—and there was seemingly nothing we could ask that he couldn't answer thoughtfully and clearly. He doesn't simply recite information about the sites; he understands the history, religion, art and archaeology well enough to follow wherever your curiosity takes you. That made the Valley of the Kings especially memorable. We were able to go far beyond the basic story of each tomb and ask about individual images, symbols, burial practices, construction and beliefs. Ali was patient, engaging and never made us feel rushed. By the end of the morning, we felt we had learned how to look at what we were seeing rather than simply having been shown it. An exceptional first day and an easy five stars.
